It is with a wild heart that we wish all our guests and followers a happy World Tourism Day for 2017.

The theme for this year is Sustainable Tourism for Development and today will be dedicated to exploring the contribution of tourism to the United Nation’s Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

We would like to briefly highlight some of the amazing stories of sustainability from past guests to South Africa.

A young couple from the USA came on a safari and bow hunting trip and donated all their meat to local communities. The age-old debate over hunting has a good side to it as well if done sustainably.

We have hosted many guests who have come to share their skills with less fortunate communities. Skills shared have ranged from education to environment to health care.

Our guests inspire us and it is our goal for the New Year to foster trips that can empower local Non-Profit Organizations to establish and continue their development of local communities.

We have met with and will be going forward with a special experience that’s profits will all go to the local organizations doing such wonderful development work.

This is a chance for people to get involved in our marginalized communities and give people a “hand-up” rather than a “hand-out”.

Wild Things Outdoor, as a proud member of Cape Town Tourism has strong values of respect towards our environment and humanity.  Keeping our hiking trails clean, informing our guests on the current water crisis and restrictions and getting involved as a volunteer to combat wildfires that affect our natural heritage and water supply.

Our cultural tours provide a positive experience and impact for local communities and small businesses thus boosting the economy and creating jobs and socio-economic growth. Our tours educate guests about the local cultures and inspire them to conserve South African heritage.

This World Tourism Day, whenever you travel, wherever you travel, remember to:

RESPECT NATURE,

RESPECT CULTURE,

RESPECT YOUR HOST”
